THE LIVING FIELD
The two liquid masses — teal on the left is the "Bull Tide", crimson on the right is the "Bear Tide". Their size and reach are driven by real Binance order-book pressure and trade flow, not randomness.
Ripples — every real trade sends a visible ripple across the boundary of whichever side executed it, sized by trade quantity.
Shockwave rings — a real liquidation causes a ring burst and a dent in the losing side's boundary.
Amber mixing zone — wherever the two liquids overlap, marking exactly where the contest between buyers and sellers is currently fiercest (the "frontier").
TOP BAR
BTC/USD price — live price ticking in real time off the Binance trade stream.
Feed status badge — shows "LIVE · BINANCE" when fully connected, "LIVE · NO LIQ FEED" if only the price/order-book streams are up, or "SIMULATED" if the live connection is down (in which case the field falls back to a clearly-labeled simulated market).
❚❚ Pause button — freezes the visual simulation (spacebar also works).
? Help button — this overlay.
RAW FEED TICKER
A continuously scrolling, unfiltered log of every real trade, liquidation, and periodic order-book summary as it arrives — the raw firehose of everything the page is reacting to.
VITALITY GAUGE & RIPPLE SLIDER
Bull / Bear vitality gauge — shows current market pressure, blended from real order-book imbalance and recent real trade flow. This is what drives which tide is currently advancing.
Ripple intensity slider — controls how strongly real trades/liquidations physically distort the liquid boundary. Doesn't affect the underlying data, only the visual reaction.
MARKET INTERNALS
Funding — the real current perpetual futures funding rate. Positive means longs are paying shorts (long-biased market); negative means the reverse.
Open interest — real total outstanding futures contracts, with its trend colored against the value when this page loaded.
Long / short — the real global ratio of long vs short accounts on Binance Futures.
24h range — today's real high/low, with a marker showing where the current price sits between them.
Volatility — realized volatility computed from real trade prices over the trailing 5 minutes (not a formal annualized figure, just a short-window read on how choppy things currently are).
(Futures data is polled periodically rather than streamed live, since it isn't available over the same WebSocket as price/order-book/trades.)
BULL / BEAR TIDE PANELS
Absorbed volume — cumulative real BTC traded on that side since the page loaded.
Territory — that side's current share of the contested field, updated live.
Territory trend — a small sparkline of that territory percentage over the last couple of minutes.
Live bid/ask ladder — the real top price levels and quantities currently resting in Binance's order book for that side.
Recent fills — the last few real trades executed on that side.
CENTER CHARTS
Live price — a rolling chart of real trade prices.
Market depth — the real cumulative bid (left) vs ask (right) volume currently sitting in the order book.
Trade flow (60s) — a rolling histogram of real buy vs sell volume over the last minute.
(Hidden on narrower screens to keep things uncluttered — the same underlying data still drives the field either way.)
BOTTOM BAR
Field state — CONTESTED, BULL DOMINANT, or BEAR DOMINANT, based on current pressure.
Net flow — real cumulative BTC bought minus sold since load.
Liquidated (session) — real cumulative USD value liquidated (both longs and shorts combined) since the page loaded.
Uptime — how long this page has been running.
Significant events log — a curated, readable subset of notable trades, liquidations, and system messages (the raw ticker up top shows everything unfiltered; this shows only the highlights).
Legend — quick color key: buy volley, sell volley, liquidation, frontier.
A NOTE ON PERFORMANCE
This runs at 60fps on Arc browser (Chrome-based) but I found performance badly degraded on both Edge and Firefox browsers. Hopefully I'll resolve this eventually!
